All You Need to Know About Winnebago Motor Homes

Most people have heard of Winnebago motor homes. Winnebago is, in fact, synonymous with high quality recreational vehicles (RVs) and in 2006 Winnebago Industries increased its market share for Class C motor home sales by almost five percent to 25.5%. This won them Class C manufacturer honors for the 2006 calendar year; the Winnebago Outlook (formerly Minnie) in particular, was recognized as the top selling Class C recreational vehicle for the year.

Winnebago Industries overall market share for Class A and Class C motorhomes combined was 19 percent in 2006, up from 17.9 percent in 2005. This is a high market share in a very large, diverse and competitive market indicating the reputation, popularity and quality of these RVs.

Winnebago’s 2007 range includes seven Class A and four Class C models, however, these do not include Winnebago Industries’ Itasca range of motorhomes of which there are eleven. In case you don’t already know the difference between the Class A and Class C RVs, Class A motor homes look like motor coaches and are often built on bus chassis whereas the smaller Class C motor homes are built on a truck chassis with an attached cab section.

The 2007 range includes thirty eight new and modified floor plans for both the Winnebago and Itasca models (eleven models of each) with the newly added Winnebago Access and jItasca Impulse.

Winnebago motor homes don’t come cheap with the new Class C Access priced from $66,685 to $77,025 and the top selling Outlook ranging from $71,039 to $77,531. Winnebago’s top of the range Class A motor home, the Vectra, sells from $270,406 to $278,646.

There are too many models with different floor plans and fixtures to simply be able to describe Winnebago RVs with a single broad description other than to admire the streamlined storage and cabinetry, quality furnishings and fixtures, and mechanical excellence. It is far more effective to describe one motor home to give you a taste of what Winnebago has to offer.

The new Winnebago Aspect is offered in three sizes – twenty three, twenty six and twenty nine feet. It is fuel efficient and easy to maneuver. The Aspect 26A probably offers the best overall value, being large enough to accommodate four people comfortably while still being small enough to handle easily. However, the twenty nine foot model offers front and rear slide-outs for additional sleeping accommodation.

The Aspect 26A comes with one slide-out and is really suited to a couple with two small children. The master bed is fifty four by seventy five inches and the dinette converts to a forty five by eighty two inch bed. The Winnebago Aspect is beautifully finished in any one of a number of available décor selections including ‘Oasis’ trim and maple cabinetry. Storage is well designed and includes dinette seats that open up to provide storage bins.

The Aspect is fitted with quality products such as Congoleum linoleum and plush carpeting and excellent galley appliances. It offers thermostatically controlled floor-ducted heat as well as ceiling ducted air-conditioning.

The bathroom is well organized and includes a toilet and shower with the vanity basin outside at the end of the master bed. There is more than enough closet and storage space for a Class C motorhome.

Winnebago has done everything to make travel easy and enjoyable, even providing a 24-inch Sony flat screen television and DVD player and a five-channel QSurround Deluxe Sound System. The overhead TV console is even pre-wired for satellite reception.

The Aspect is only one of many models on offer. If this description has whet your appetite to know more, you can visit Winnebago’s website and browse all their current models or visit a dealership and wander through the vehicles on the lot. You’ll find their RVs, nothing short of amazing.
