With the amount of anti aging products available in not only your pharmacist but your local supermarket as well, it's perhaps easy to forget that there are alternative, less expensive ways to help fight against the aging process. One of these is to restrict the amount of calories you're allowing your body to consume. Although there's no real medical explanation as to why exactly this is the case, there are various views and discussions about why it does, and visibly so too:

Since calories (or certainly any extra amount over the recommended level) can lead to what causes insulin, a reduction or restriction of calories in the body will obviously reduce any amounts of insulin in your body. When this happens, it will lead to less health problems, and since health problems often lead to the appearance of aging (stress, worry, deterioration of skill) then the healthier you are, the younger you will look.

If you've ever read a magazine article about weight, you'll probably have come across the phrase antioxidants, and how they can benefit the body. The way antioxidants stop the more harmful oxidants from polluting your system, which is caused by an abundance of calories, it leads to a healthier, almost detoxified body, and therefore healthier skin again.

However, as good as calorie restriction is for both your health and your skin, it has to be done properly and in moderation. Not all calories are bad for you, and some can even be beneficial. Before looking at a calories restricted diet to help you with anti aging, you should speak with your doctor, or if you're a member of a gym, a qualified dietician. They can explain which calories are good for you, and which ones you should be avoiding. Don't be tempted to try supplementing your diet with so-called meal replacement bars, either, as they can actually damage any good work you do.

The main thing to remember is that although you're looking to restrict your calorie consumption, it's not at the expense of still eating food. Simply look at how you eat now, and swap the bad, higher calorie foods with the lower ones, and not only will you lose weight and feel healthy, it will also act as one of the best natural anti aging methods around.
