Of course, you've probably heard the popular buzzword "antiaging" today, since it's all over the news and is all the rage. And in fact, although it's not possible to entirely stop aging, there are things you can do to slow the aging process.

As you get older, under normal conditions, your body will begin to lose function, and its healing and other regenerative processes will slow. At their worst, they may even be detrimental to you physically. And if you're smart, you maintain the same good nutrition today that your parents provided for you when you were growing up.

As you get older, however, you'll need to pay special attention to certain things, such as calcium and magnesium in a ratio of three to two, for proper absorption, as well as other essential vitamins and minerals. A good simple multivitamin will help to make sure you get all of the trace nutrients you need that you might not normally get from your diet.

Of course, as we age on the outside, we also age on the inside, and if we truly help our skin with proper nutrition, then it stands to reason that we will also be helping ourselves internally. As we age, collagen production slows and our skin begins to sag. To help slow this, your diet should be rich in antioxidants such as vitamins C and E and, of course, you should be taking a good multivitamin and mineral supplement to make sure you get everything you need that your diet might not provide. Proponents also say that certain supplements like coenzyme Q10 or alpha lipoic acid are other nutrients that can help with skin aging. Externally, you may choose such injections as collagen or botox to help your skin look better, or other plastic surgery options.

In short, finding what you best need in your diet and exploring other options as well will help you confront the aging process as healthfully as possible and perhaps even slow it. With proper diet, good nutrition and common sense, you can live a long, healthy life well into old age.
