If your skin is making you look older than you are, there are a
number of lifestyle changes that can improve the quality of your
complexion. To regain the youthful appearance you want, you can try
any of the following:
1. Improve your diet. There isn’t any point in spending the money
on treatments for your skin until you take care of your health
first. By eating a healthy, balanced diet, including plenty of fresh
vegetables and fruit, your skin will regain the radiance it once
had.
2. Quit smoking. Smokers face a shorter life span, more health
problems, and tired, old looking skin. Rarely will you find a smoker
who has the same young looking appearance as her non-smoking peers.
In fact, in a study of identical twins, it was found that the twin
who smoked appeared to be much older than her twin sister.
3. Get more exercise. Part of a healthy lifestyle includes daily
exercise. As little as thirty minutes of brisk walking a day will
improve both your mental and physical health. It won’t be long
before people are noticing your smiling face and healthy complexion.
4. Protect yourself from the elements. Wind, cold, and sun – they
all take a toll on your skin. Using a moisturizing face cream before
you go outside and wearing a protective hat and sunglasses will keep
your skin from becoming weathered and rough looking. Since the sun’s
rays are so strong, sunbathing is no longer advisable. In fact, it’s
best to avoid exposure to the sun between ten in the morning and
three in the afternoon.
5. Limit alcohol and instead drink enough water to rehydrate your
skin.
6. Take a daily multivitamin. You especially need vitamins A, C,
and E.
7. Keep a thankful, positive outlook and a sense of humor. Don’t
be the miserable, wrinkled old lady that some people associate with
aging.
8. Use a good wrinkle cream. Start and end your day with a
wrinkle reducer cleansing lotion. Not only will your skin feel soft
and smooth, wrinkles will seem to disappear.
9. See a doctor about a more permanent solution. If the above
ideas aren’t enough help for your wrinkles, there are other
treatments you can consider. From chemical peels, to cosmetic laser
surgery to more drastic measures such as a face lift, modern science
can help. While most of these procedures are expensive, they can
give you the youthful appearance of your dreams.
