Many over-the-counter creams for anti wrinkles claim to be
effective, although many are moisturizers that contain no active
ingredients that are useful for diminishing wrinkles. To ensure that
you are buying a product for anti wrinkles that will actually work,
you should read the ingredient label to see if it has any of the
following elements inside.
Antioxidants
Antioxidants are an effective ingredient found in creams for anti
wrinkles. These nutrients and enzymes serve to neutralize the free
radicals that are found in the skin layer. These radicals are
unstable oxygen molecules that are a leading cause of skin damage.
Antioxidant nutrients include vitamin E, vitamin C,
beta-carotene, selenium, manganese, and zinc which can be ingested
in your food or taken as a supplement. Some of these ingredients are
also available in creams for anti wrinkles.
Antioxidant enzymes include superoxide dismutase, catalase, and
glutathione peroxidase. Other nutrients and compounds that are
effective antioxidants include Coenzyme Q10, retinol, uric acids,
and phtyochemicals such as kinetin that are found in plants.
Exfoliants
Exfoliants are also ingredients that are found in effective
creams for anti wrinkles. These substances are used to remove to old
skin cells to reveal the newer ones that are lying underneath. The
skin in response to this removal will accelerate its natural healing
process of making new cells.
There are several natural substances that are utilized as
exfoliants. These ingredients can include apricot seeds or crushed
nuts, such as walnuts and almonds. Coffee grounds are also used as
an exfoliant in some products.
Other ingredients that are used as exfoliants include alpha
hydroxy acids and beta hydroxy acids. Known as AHAs, these chemicals
are found in many products for anti wrinkles.
Peptides
Peptides are another ingredient that is found effective in
treatments for anti wrinkles. These small protein molecules can
stimulate the skin’s natural healing process, including an increase
in the production of collagen. When appearing on an ingredient
label, these peptides may appear as “copper peptides,” “palmitoyl
pentapeptide-3,” “lipo-pentapep-tide,” or a variety of other names,
all of which will have “pep” or “peptide” present in the name.
Buyer Beware
All of these ingredients are effective as treatments for anti
wrinkles. You need to ensure that any anti aging product that you
purchase has at least one of these elements in it. If not, you may
very well be wasting your time and money.
