As we grow older, we face the realization that our skin is just
not able to stay as young and fresh as it once used to. With the
breakdown of collagen production in our bodies and the increase of
cellulite build up in our skin cells, we often find it can be pretty
discouraging looking in the mirror some days. Growing old does not
have to be something we are afraid of anymore, thanks to the modern
anti wrinkle treatment available today.
Mesotherapy is one such treatment. Completed in 4-10 sessions,
treatment is typically every one or two weeks, depending on the area
being treated and the extent of the condition. Tiny bore needles are
injected into the fat beneath the skin of a patient and contain a
customized chemical mixture of compounds such as fat reduction
agents, vitamins, muscle relaxants, enzymes, hormones or other
substances. This anti-cellulite injection breaks down and melts the
cellulite in the body, resulting in healthier and sexier skin. The
treatment must be repeated every 6 months to a year.
This method is popular throughout Europe and South America,
although not widely accepted in the United States since the
components are not yet FDA approved. The American Society of Plastic
Surgeons also does not endorse Mesotherapy as a scientifically
proven method. However, some scientific studies have shown that
Mesotherapy does stimulate the cells that produce collagen and
prevents fine lines and wrinkles.
It may be helpful to begin treatment at a younger age to prevent
wrinkles from appearing. The vitamins and antioxidants in the
injections help to stimulate the skin cells and force them to
produce more collagen and elastin. Results are gradual, as small
areas are targeted over a period of time. It may even take 6 months
to see results, as there is also a strict exercise and diet you must
follow. Ongoing maintenance is required, which could lead to more
expense than initially anticipated.
Since there are potential life threatening allergic reactions
from the injected drugs, allergy testing will need to be done first.
Using the services of a licensed Mesotherapy Practitioner will
prevent infections from improper injections. Some people may suffer
a severe local reaction to the substances injected.
This can cause ulceration and subsequent scarring. As well, the
area around the injection site may become discolored or permanently
scarred. Most people suffer a small amount of swelling, pain,
bruising, or itching, which usually subsides a few hours to a few
days after treatment. It’s recommended that you wear loose fitting
clothing and limit exercise for up to three days after the
procedure.
In spite of the potential problems, it is possible to look and
feel much better about yourself, so talk to your doctor about the
risks and side effects of Mesotherapy as a possible anti wrinkle
treatment.
