There are so many benefits of weight training for seniors, from gaining more energy to reducing risk of bone loss. Weight training is simply exercising by lifting weights and it is not just for the young and the body builders anymore. Weight training for seniors has proven its many benefits, such as rebuilding muscle strength, enhancing your strength and flexibility, increasing your bone mass and density, reduce the fat in your body, reducing your blood pressure, reducing back pains, reduce the pain associated with arthritis and more. Strength training can even help to relieve any symptoms you may have of depression, sleep disorders, diabetes and heart disease. Certainly, with all of these benefits involved, weight training is perfect for seniors. As you age, even in your twenties, your body begins to lose muscle mass year after year. Your body will also begin to lose bone mass, as well as the strength in your joints and ligaments. Senior weight training can help your body with all of these things. You can become a healthier, happier, more energized person just by lifting weights at least three times a week. You should remember to start out slow. If you feel any pain at all associated with lifting weights, you should stop immediately and make an appointment with your medical health specialist to discuss what might be wrong. It could be something as simple as having the wrong posture while lifting weights and that can be easily fixed. If you want to, you can hire a personal trainer or order some DVDs on senior weight training that will help show you the appropriate ways to lift weights. Don’t get stuck in the same routine. Challenge yourself. Make goals to help you lift even more and become even more healthy. If one week you can do ten curls, make a goal to do twelve curls the next week. Keeping a journal of what you achieve during your weight training will help you make goals, challenge yourself and see how much you have accomplished. When you see how much you can actually accomplish, you will be more likely to keep at it because you are motivated by your own successes! You could even join a senior weight training program at your local health club. But starting in your own home with some DVDs for guidance will probably help you feel more comfortable. Just remember you can get all of these benefits from weight training –
Don’t put this off another day. Don’t say you will start
